Yolaikia

Yolai'kia Wapita'ska is a member of the Abenaki people indigenous to Quebec and the northeastern United States.   She sculpts primarily with deer antler, a material traditionally sacred to women in the Abenaki culture.  In her work, she depicts ongoing exchanges of essential energy nested within flowing forms.  Subtle human/animal transformations, rendered with brilliance and grace, reveal the connections and possibilities within the universe.
