"Awahodo Sachemel"
(Little Bug)
   by Gerard Tsonakwa, Abenaki

Here is the chief of the "Little Bugs" - the Grand Awahodo.  He has many notches on his feathers to record his victims who have gone completely mad.  Lost your marbles?  He is wearing them as trophies on his hair ties!

When you spill your drink or lock your keys in the car or go to the next room to get something and forget what it was when you get there - Awahodo!

When you stub your toe in the dark or start coughing in the movies- Awahodo!  The lights go out, the car won't start, the goat ate your homework - Awahodo!  You know the story better than me!

Honor Awahodo; give him offerings like tobacco, maple syrup, coffee, or especially chocolate cake and he will ease up on you...a little.
