"Wematagun-swes: The Little Man Who is Everywhere"      (Echo)
   by Gerard Tsonakwa, Abenaki

A hunter became separated from the rest of his party and called to them. He heard someone answer from across the valley. He went across and found no one there. He called out again and was answered by someone across the valley where he had just been. He went back to find a little red and black man who had fooled him. Sometimes he is called Wematagun-swes and sometimes we call him "Answer Me." We know him because he always repeats what we say and are no longer fooled by him.
